Small businesses to come together, virtually this year, at the Toronto & Montreal Vegan Christmas Market to drum up some Holiday spirit and sales.
As they say, the show must go on! Given COVID restrictions on public gathering, the Vegan Christmas Market (Marché de Noël Végane) will be hosted this year virtually from December 5 to 13, 2020.
The Holiday fair, its 3rd edition in Montreal and 2nd in Toronto, will highlight cruelty-free products from a variety of small-businesses offering food, fashion, jewelry, and body care items. All products are made without any animal-sourced material or exploitation, a defining characteristic of veganism and main concept behind the market.
The lockdown and closure of physical storefronts has meant that many small businesses have had to pivot quickly and shift to selling mainly online. For the Vegan Christmas Market, this meant it has to adopt new ways of running their events. Whereas previously shoppers would enjoy Holiday markets for the hustle and bustle festive air that comes with the unique in-person experience with sights, sounds, and taste, an online event presents challenges in those areas.
“But on the flip side, because it is all online our event is no longer limited by physical location. Customers across Canada and even in the US can shop this fair, as some of our vendors ship across Canada & to the US,” said event organizer An Pham.
The event not being bound by any physical venue is also giving many small businesses the opportunity to register for the fair outside of their city, without incurring travelling costs that would have otherwise been a deterring factor. Many Montreal vendors are participating in the Toronto fair, and vice versa. There is even a US vendor exhibiting in both Canadian cities.
What can the public expect? “As a marketplace, we’re trying to be creative and keep the experience as visually appealing and engaging as possible. We can’t wait to reveal our virtual edition next week,” said the organizer.
The Market will open its virtual doors on December 5th at 7am. Shoppers can access the site at www.vegan-christmas-market.com
